Caring for clothing:
It is recommended to wash any outdoor clothing at 30 degrees, unless specified otherwiseby the manufacturer. For more delicate items we recommend a 5 minute rinse and spin (ifusing a washing machine) to remove any detergent build up before washing your technicalkit.
All Páramo products should be washed with Nikwax TechWash and, if necessary, reproofedwith Nikwax TX Direct. Any cotton containing Páramo products should still be washed withTech Wash but reproofed with Nikwax Cotton Proof.
All synthetic t-shirts, shirts, fleeces, windproofs, softshells, trousers, overtrousers, shorts, hardshells can be washed with Nikwax Tech-Wash or Grangers Performance wash.
All synthetic Windproofs, Softshells, trousers, overtrousers, shorts and hardshells should be reproofed with Nikwax TX Direct or Grangers performance Repel Plus.
Down products should only be washed with NikWax Down wash or Grangers Down wash. If you wish to reproof your Down this can be done in the washing machine with either NikwaxDown Proof or Grangers Down Proof or preferably sprayed on the outer with the same products.
The same applies to sleeping bags. Sleeping bags should be stored outside of theircompression bags.
Tents and flysheets
Tents should cleaned down after use. Tent fly sheets, when clean, should be treated with Nikwax Tent and Solar Proof.
Outdoor Footwear:
All footwear should be washed with clean water to remove muck and dirt after use. Periodically, all footwear should be cleaned with a footwear cleaner like Nikwax FootwearCleaning Gel or Grangers Footwear and Gear Cleaner. After cleaning, a footwear proofer can be applied to increase water repellency. This is suitable for all footwear regardless of thematerials the upper is made from. Footwear with a leather upper, be it oiled, full grain ,nubuck or suede should be proofed with a wax. This should be used in place of any syntheticproofer. The wax will not only waterproof the leather but keep if soft and supple to preventit drying out and cracking. It makes sense to proof your footwear after cleaning with a cleaner as you will get the best coverage. Wax and synthetic proofers can be applied on wetuppers or dry ones. Note that wax proofers will affect the finish on suede leather.
